After finalizing the Jadon Sancho deal, Man United are closing in on finalizing a deal to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid – according to ESPN.
It’s said that the Red Devils have received encouragement from Madrid – who are prepared to negotiate a ‘realistic fee’ to let him go.
The La Liga side were reportedly initially asking for £60m for Varane – but United are now confident they can get him for somewhere around £45m.
Pau Torres remains an alternative target, but the Red Devils consider the Frenchman their priority centre-back target and are pushing for his signing.
Varane’s Euro 2020 campaign recently ended with France’s elimination and the defender is himself said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford, even though his rumored £400,000-a-week wage demands can cause some issues.
