Elanga & Wan-Bissaka 8, Dalot 4: Rating United players in Brentford draw

Good

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 8. Produced a good cross for Elanga's opening goal and was a constant threat on the right-hand side. Quietly reliable at the back as he successfully Brentford's attacks on his wing.

Anthony Elanga: 8. An expert finish from the youngster who looked dangerous throughout his time on the pitch. His running in spaces and positioning was brilliant today as Elanga makes a shout for more first-team football this season.

Andreas Pereira: 7.5. A magnificent strike, no two ways about it. You need to have absolutely perfect technique to hit the ball the way Andreas did. Brentofrd keeper Raya probably could not believe it when it went in! Looked quite anonymous in the build-up though.

Facundo Pellistri: 6.5. Showed a lot of passion and desire in the 30 minutes he was given. His pressing was a nuisance to Brentford defenders as he nearly set up United's third, forcing David Raya to gift the ball to Lingard, but Jesse's chipped shot went over and wide.

Brandon Williams: 6.5. Made a few good overlapping runs down that left-hand side. A promising performance for the full-back, especially in light of Dalot's struggles.

Average

Nemanja Matic: 5.5. Conceded a poor header leading to Brentford's goal. Was quite shaky in possession in the first half but got better after the break as he expertly supported attacks and made a few lovely recoveries.

Jesse Lingard: 5.5. A fairly decent performance by the 28-year-old but he needs to do better if he wants to have a first-team future at United. Too many misplaced passes, too many shots going wide when they should go in.

Poor

Axel Tuanzebe: 4.5. While Brentford's second goal was down to Dalot's poor positioning and concentration, Alex should have done better there too. He didn't run towards Mbuemo enough, giving him a very comfortable angle to shoot.

Diogo Dalot: 4. Should have dealt with Brentford's pass that led to Mbeumo's goal. Instead, allowed the Bees yougster to run away and put the ball into the net.

Other starting XI players: Greenwood 6.5, Heaton, Mengi 6, Mata 5.5.

Other subs: Hannibal 6.5, James 6, Garner 5.5, Shoretire, Van de Beek N/A
