Worrying stat reveals key difference between Mo Salah and Ronaldo - it's bad news for Man United

There appears to be a new rivalry in the Premier League and it includes Mo Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has scored 5 goals in 6 games for Manchester United this term but the Liverpool striker has already hit 9 in as many appearances.

To be fair, Cristiano is 36 while Salah is only 29 and in his 'prime'. And it's been years since Ronaldo last played in England - the game has changed since then while Salah has gotten accustomed to the new-age style.

Pressing is a huge part of the modern game and football analyst Vadim Lukomski wrote on Twitter: "Fact of the day.

"Yesterday [against Man City], Salah recorded 3.5 times more pressures than Cristiano Ronaldo since returning to the Premier League.

"33 against 9."

Why this is bad news for Man United

As observed earlier by Tribuna.com, Ronaldo simply doesn't fit Manchester United's 'big-game' tactics.

That means while the rest of the outfield players are tasked with pressing and defending without the ball, Cristiano just...chills, for lack of a better word.

If one player is freed of defensive responsibilities, it exposes an obvious weak link in the setup. The 36-year-old ranks in the bottom one percent of players in his position when it comes to pressing.

In fact, even back at Juventus, Ronaldo was not known for pressing much which raises concerns about how he affects the balance of the squad.
