Phil Jones reveals what he told Solskjaer after manager's public show of support

Back in August, Phil Jones made headlines against his wish when Rio Ferdinand claimed that he was taking a young player's place at Man United and should've been sold years ago.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer came to Jones' defence, slamming his former teammate for being 'out of order'.

Now, Phil Jones spoke to the UTD Podcast about his appreciation for the manager's support.

"Yeah, that was really nice," he said.

"I spoke to him after and said thank you for the words, because it meant a lot, it really did because there’s nothing [that means] more [as] a footballer, for someone, managers, staff, coaches, players, to have your back.

“To feel really supported by him was a nice feeling. At the time, I needed that. It was nice."

Phil Jones has had several difficult years as he struggled with injuries. The 29-year-old has only played eight games across all competitions since the start of the 2019/20 season.
