Pogba in pviot, Maguire returns: Solskjaer's formation in Leicester loss explained

Man United suffered an embarrassing 2-4 loss at the hands of Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils were clearly outplayed and produced an underwhelming display.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a risk in starting Harry Maguire alongside Victor Lindelof.

This is despite the United captain not having trained properly before the game.

The midfield pivot of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic returned, while Jadon Sancho was given a chance to impress on the left wing.

United took the lead through Mason Greenwood’s remarkable strike – but things turned bad after that.

Leicester took control in the midfield battle, finding a lot of space to threaten inside United’s half and constantly testing David de Gea.

Marcus Rashford was brought on after the hour-mark.

He scored the second goal minutes after Leicester took the lead through Caglar Soyuncu.

Jesse Lingard and Scott McTominay came on after that, with United going for a more attack-minded formation to salvage a point.

They were unable to do so as late goals from Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka sealed a forgettable afternoon for the Red Devils.
