Dean Henderson will want to leave Man United if he can't reclaim the No.1 role from David de Gea, the Daily Mail reports.

The 24-year-old effectively became the first-choice keeper at the end of the last season.

However, he had to pull out of England's squad for Euro 2020 due to a hip injury. Furthermore, the keeper suffered from the effects of a so-called 'long Covid' that sidelined him for several weeks longer than expected.

As a result, De Gea has used the chance to re-establish himself as No.1 and has arguably been the Red Devils' best player in the first months of the disappointing campaign.

Henderson would prefer to stay at United and build a career there, but he's concerned by the fact that he's only made one Carabao Cup appearance so far.

That's why he might consider leaving Man United as early as in January, although the club is unlikely to let him walk mid-season.

Newcastle are one of the likely suitors, but it remains to be seen if Man United are willing to deal with one of the potential challengers in the long term.
