Speaking to ESPN FC, Axel Tuanzebe's brother and agent Dimitri said: "The move was very easy. Manchester United were very supportive, made sure that it was in favour of Axel's career and Napoli did everything to make the deal.
"I added them to the list of clubs interested and then assessed all options with the help of my family, trusted partners and Axel. After multiple meetings with interested clubs, we all concluded that Napoli is the best option.
"Axel was persuaded by the clear path into the team, also a success story of players who have enjoyed playing time since they signed for Napoli after a lack of opportunities at their previous clubs. Napoli is in a great position in Serie A.
"Axel didn't decide to move on from Aston Villa until it became very clear that he isn't the manager's first-choice centre-back. He is very excited to begin a new chapter in his football career, playing abroad for Napoli."
Tuanzebe has cut short his loan spell at Aston Villa to join Napoli on loan until the end of the 2021/22 season with the defender's brother blaming Steven Gerrard.
The former Liverpool player took over at Villa in November 2021 although Tuanzebe was hardly a first-team regular under previous manager Dean Smith.
The Man United centre-back will now spend the rest of the Serie A campaign at Napoli and his Old Trafford future will be decided at the end of the loan spell.
