Erik ten Hag 'not disappointed' about missing Darwin Nunez deal — reason revealed

According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Erik ten Hag is 'not disappointed' about the fact that Darwin Nunez snubbed Manchester United to join Liverpool.

The Merseysiders broke their transfer record to pay a whopping €100 million to sign the 22-year-old striker from Benfica.

And Ten Hag is aware that spending such a huge fee on one player 'risked compromising' the club's transfer strategy on the whole.

The Red Devils need to reinforce the attack, the midfield and even the centre-back unit if possible. That's a tall order even for a club known for spending like United.

In fact, Romano understands United were willing to pay €70 million and were in contact with Nunez's agent till the final minute.

Romano adds that the club will continue to look for a new striker but it will also depend on whether or not Ten Hag opts to keep Anthony Martial.
