Man United's biggest weaknesses this season shown in lineup

Man United might’ve travelled with a 30+ man squad for pre-season, but there are still some issues in certain areas.

Right now, the Red Devils’ biggest weaknesses are in the defensive midfield role as well as the centre-forward role.

Erik ten Hag, in fact, even hinted in a recent press conference that he wants to improve the midfield and attacking areas of his squad.

As it’s visible in this line-up, United can at least field two or more players in every position barring a defensive midfielder and a striker.

United have tried to play the likes of Fred and even Donny van de Beek as a defensive midfielder in the past, but it hasn’t worked out well.

Anthony Martial is not consistent or that reliable as a no.9 and neither is Marcus Rashford.

Moreover, when it comes to the centre-back position, the Red Devils might have a lot of options, but there is hardly a plethora of quality in there.

Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe can be alternatives to Raphael Varane, but are hardly reliable at the top level. Even Phil Jones isn't good enough at all.

The centre-back area also needs an upgrade, which is why United are pushing hard to sign Lisandro Martinez.

It's now a matter of urgency for United to go all out and sign a centre-forward, a defender, and a defensive midfielder to fix their weak links before the start of the Premier League season.
