Speaking to the United Stand YouTube channel, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has effectively contradicted an earlier report by The Athletic.
It's been claimed that Man United are unlikely to back Erik ten Hag on the transfer market in January due to 'budget realities'.
However, Romano insists that United will try and strengthen a few positions if the right option comes up.
In particular, signing a striker is very high on their agenda. Last January, this missed out on deals for Dusan Vlahovic and Julian Alvarez - now, they want to be ready if a top player appears on the market.
Another position United are looking at is right-back, with Inter Milan player Denzel Dumfries a potential option. Aaron Wan-Bissaka would be allowed to leave if United sign his replacement.
