David De Gea 'out of World Cup' after failing to make Spain's preliminary squad

According to top Spanish outlet AS, Luis Enrique has excluded David De Gea from Spain's preliminary 55-man squad for the Qatar World Cup.

Enrique has reportedly sent the list to FIFA and the travelling 26-man squad will be chosen from those names.

Despite being a regular for Manchester United this season - and having a great season - the 31-year-old has been omitted.

Chelsea star Kepa Arrizabalaga has made it as a reserve but AS understands Enrique wants to rely on Brentford man David Raya for the World Cup.

Along with Kepa and Raya, Brighton's Robert Sanchez and Unai Simon, who plays for Athletic Bilbao, are included.

And the fifth player named among the goalkeepers is Getafe man David Soria, who has interestingly never been capped before.
