Explained: why United didn't sign £60m-rated Caicedo when he was available for £4.5m and eager to join

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is one of the most in-demand young midfielders in the Premier League right now.

Chelsea and Arsenal are both fighting to sign him, with the Seagulls unwilling to sell him in January.

Incidentally, Man United had the chance to bring him to Old Trafford in 2021.

As per The Athletic, the Red Devils even held talks with Caicedo’s club Independiente del Valle in February 2021 over a potential move.

The deal would’ve cost them £4.5m in transfer fees. But United ended up walking away due to complications around payments made to various agents.

Brighton ended up signing him the same year and he has taken huge strides at the club ever since.

He is now valued at over £60m by the Seagulls and is likely to get a big-money move sometime later this year.
