Man United players' contract situations before summer transfer window — explained

The summer transfer window is about to open and Man United have a few contract issues to sort out ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Contracts about to expire

Tuanzebe's 17 years at United will come to an end this summer. The defender, who is currently on loan at Stoke City, is expected to depart on a free transfer.

Butland joined United on a six-month loan deal from Crystal Palace in January. It is, however, unclear if he will be offered a new one.

Heaton will also be a free agent in the summer. Like in Butland's case, it is uncertain if he will stay beyond this summer.

Finally, Jones will no longer be called a Man United player at the end of the season. The Englishman has been at the club since 2009.

Sabitzer moved to Old Trafford in January from Bayern Munich on a six-month contract. While the Austrian has openly declared that he wants to remain at the club, no decision has been made yet.

Another quick fix, Weghorst's deal will expire in the next few weeks. Like Sabitzer, the Dutchman wants a permanent move but nothing has been concluded as it is now.

Players set to enter last year of contract

Lindelof seemed to be on his way out before a turn of events that offered him more playing time. United will definitely be having second thoughts over the defender.

Williams has managed just four minutes of action this season and should be headed out of the club next summer.

United in December triggered a one-year contract extension for Dalot. He should get an improved offer soon.

Wan-Bissaka has proven his doubters wrong this season. However, it is unclear if he has done enough to get a new deal.

Similar to Dalot, Fred received a one-year extension but there is no guarantee that he would get another in 2024.

Rashford is undoubtedly United's biggest player and the club will do everything to keep him. A new contract is imminent.

Martial has struggled with fitness and form. With the club all out to sign a new striker this summer, he is unlikely to get a renewal.

Ongoing talks

The biggest potential free agent on United's roaster, De Gea is still in talks with the club over a new deal.
