Speaking to ITV Sport after Man United’s loss in the FA Cup final to Man City, Roy Keane said: “United have got to get a new goalkeeper.
“They need a world class striker and a new goalkeeper. They need some other players and some strength in depth but they need a new goalkeeper and a world class striker. I'm sick of saying it.”
The Irishman also laid criticism on David de Gea for his role in the second goal, saying: “That’s the thing with top goalkeepers, they get you over the line in certain games and could have been the difference today.
“You expect your keeper to save that and he didn't and that’s why we’re seeing these celebrations. For Man United, they need a world class goalkeeper and he isn't'.”
There probably isn’t much to argue with Keane here. The Red Devils need a top-quality centre-forward to compete for major honors next season and probably also look to find a long-term successor for De Gea, irrespective of if he signs a new contract or not.
