However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Kim is United's first choice with the young Frenchman as backup. 

He wrote on Twitter: "Axel Disasi wants Manchester United as L’Equipe reported — he’s plan B option in list on the French market mentioned today.

"Understand there’s still nothing concrete in terms of agreement between Man Utd and AS Monaco — Kim Min jae remains the top target as CB."

Kim had a stellar season in the Serie A, winning the Defender of the Year while helping his side to a title.

Disasi has been linked with a host of top European sides but has opted to move to Old Trafford. 

Having missed out on European football, Monaco are hoping to bring in between €40m and €50m, a sum which United are expected to have no issue in paying.

Disasi has been a regular fixture in the team since arriving from Reims three years ago, and notably played all 38 league matches, chipping in with three goals and three assists as well. 

He was a late call-up to the France squad for the 2022 World Cup, replacing the injured Presnel Kimpembe. In Qatar, he made three appearances, notably taking part in the defeat to Argentina in the final.

Fabrizio Romano has come confirmed that the Red Devils are still in the race to sign him, but are not close to an agreement yet.

Romano wrote on his CaughtOffside column: “Manchester United have a strong interest in Kim Min-jae, they consider him a huge talent. However, at this moment they cannot trigger his €47m release clause, because this clause is only valid in early July, not now.

“They like the player and there are conversations happening, but it’s not a done deal because of the release clause situation. Newcastle have also sent their scouts to watch Kim but they know that Man Utd have been working on this deal for some time.”

Man United are definitely interested in signing Min-Jae, who they believe can significantly improve their defensive options and add more stability to the backline.

But signing a centre-back isn’t the top-most priority for the club in the summer, as they’re most likely to push to sign a new striker instead.

Any day Kim is a better option,  every possibility he will hit the ground running, as he is close to refined player...
Disasi will take time... it would be big step jump for him... but sometimes players do come with a surprise...

Man united is the only club that bid for a player for eternity. we stall with all our deals. why can't we do business the way Madrid do business. fast and sharp. get these players in before preseason start. may God help us.
