'He brings the energy and the dynamic': Ten Hag defends playing Amrabat at left-back against Crystal Palace

Speaking to MUTV, Erik ten Hag said: "Sofyan Amrabat played at full-back, that's why we play him there.

"I know he's capable of playing there. He's a player, where the team needs him, he plays there.

"He gives contribution to the team, that is quality, but also the energy and the dynamic he brings."

Amrabat made his first start for Manchester United on Tuesday night, playing for an hour in the 3–0 EFL Cup third round win against Crystal Palace.

Ten Hag slotted the 27-year-old at left-back amid the injury crisis at Old Trafford even though the Moroccan was brought in as a defensive midfield cover.
