Sir Jim Ratcliffe is understood to take control over sporting decisions at Man United if he completes the purchase of a 25 per cent stake at the club, as expected.
However, that does not mean that the Glazer family will no longer hold sway over these issues.
According to the Financial Times, Joel Glazer will be sitting on a committee overseeing football matters. He'll be joined by Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, the director of sport at Ineos and Ratcliffe's right-hand man.
Besides, the Glazers will still have control over commercial decisions, although Ratcliffe is expected to have some influence as a large shareholder.
Still, Ratcliffe wants to be the main man on the club's sporting side and leave his mark to show the fans that his arrival represents a break from the previous 18 years of the Glazers' ownership.
If he achieves that and manages to gradually increase his share until he becomes the principal Man United owner, he'll hope to be accepted better by the fans than the Glazers were back in 2005.
