Everton receive 10-point deduction ahead of Man United clash

According to the BBC, Everton have had 10 points deducted from their Premier League tally after breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

The report adds this is the biggest sporting sanction since the beginning of the competition. Everton are now down to the 19th spot in the table - in the relegation zone.

A statement from the Premier League read: "Following a five-day hearing last month, the commission determined that Everton FC’s PSR [profit and sustainability rules] calculation for the relevant period resulted in a loss of £124.5m, as contended by the Premier League, which exceeded the threshold of £105m permitted under the PSRs.

"The commission concluded that a sporting sanction in the form of a 10-point deduction should be imposed. That sanction has immediate effect."

Everton are expected to appeal the 'harsh' decision after coming down to four points from a total of 14.

They are now at risk of relegation ahead of facing Manchester United next after the international break.
