Onana and Amrabat selected for AFCON 2024 duty: here is how many games they could miss for Man United

Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat will both be participating in the Africa Cup of Nations 2024 after being called up for the tournament.

The goalkeeper will be representing Cameroon as their no.1 goalkeeper, while Amrabat will play for Morocco. The two will, obviously, not be able to play for Man United during their time away.

The AFCON 2024 kicks off on 13 January and the final is scheduled to be played on February 11.  The group stages will end by the end of January and the Round of 16 games will be held on January 27-January 30.

The quarter-finals will be held on February 2 & February 3, while the semi-finals are going to take place on February 7. So if Cameroon and Morocco make it past the Round of 16, then Onana and Amrabat could both end up missing a number of games.

Both are set to miss the first two games of 2024 for Man United, including the FA Cup clash against Wigan Athletic on January 8. They could also miss the fourth-round clash towards the end of January if both their teams make it past the group stages.

If Onana and Amrabat are able to inspire their national teams to the semi-finals, they will also miss the first few Premier League games in February – which could be extended to three if Cameroon and Morocco face each other in the finals.

Matches Onana and Amrabat could miss for Man United due to AFCON

vs TBA – FA Cup 4th Round – January 27/28

vs Wolves – Premier League – February 1
