Man United looking to appoint multiple recruitment specialists for transfer strategy overhaul

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning to completely overhaul Man United’s transfer strategy heading into their era under him.

As per I News, the Ineos contingent are planning to appoint both transfer specialists Paul Mitchell and Dan Ashworth into the club.

The latter is currently Newcastle United’s sporting director and Mitchell is a free agent after moving on from his role at AS Monaco.

Sir Dave Brailsford, Ineos’ director of sport, is still very much considering Ashworth as his no.1 option to replace John Murtough in the sporting director role.

Mitchell is, instead, being eyed in a ‘head of recruitment’ role and will be responsible for scouting and recruiting promising talents for the club.

Ashworth is currently reportedly happy with his role at Newcastle, but could find a lucrative offer from the Red Devils tough to turn down.

Mitchell, meanwhile, is renowned for his recruitment ability. He signed the likes of Son Heung-min and Kieran Tripper for Tottenham Hotspur and brought Sadio Mane to Southampton.

Ineos wants to avoid transfer blunders for Man United going forward and hope to combine Ashworth and Mitchell’s qualities to improve the quality of the signings going forward.
