Frenkie de Jong has rubbished reports linking him with a move to Man United or any other club for that matter. He says he is happy at Barcelona.
“There are lot of fake news in the press. Some of you should feel ashamed, this has to stop," he said. “People invented numbers of my salary. I’m very happy at Barca, I hope to stay here for many years.
“You are talking a lot about my contract, my situation in the team, and my salary. A lot of smoke, a lot of lies. Reports of €40m salary is very far from what I really earn”.
De Jong came close to signing for United in 2022 when the Red Devils tabled £70million for the Dutchman, but he instead opted to stay in Spain and fight for his future at the club.
The Reds yet retained interest and were speculated to be preparing a fresh bid for the player Erik ten Hag knows well from his time at Ajax.
