'We won 7 titles in last 11 years': Pep Guardiola throws shade at Man United ahead of derby

At his recent press conference, Pep Guardiola subtly hinted that Manchester City are more successful than Manchester United.

While discussing how football teams can only be successful through a decade in England, the Man City boss said, quoted by 90Min: "In the 80s it was Liverpool, in the 90s it was United and now we have won seven Premier Leagues in the last 11 or 12 years.

"In 50 or 60 years, there has never been one country where one team dominates and controls everything but we try to extend this as much as possible for many years."

They began their dominance in 2011 led by Roberto Mancini and, of course, Guardiola has been successful since he took charge in 2016.

In contrast, he claims Man United and Liverpool only enjoyed success for a decade each. That's laughable, to say the least, as the Red Devils were also wildly successful in the 2000s.

Sir Alex Ferguson won six titles between 2000 and 2010 in addition to the Champions League win in 2008.

Guardiola is fresh from replicating the Treble win from last season but even he must admit that's an outlandish claim.
