Man United have not decided on the future of Erik ten Hag, despite strong interest in Gareth Southgate, the Manchester Evening News reports.
A lot will depend on how the season ends for United, as they still have an opportunity to win a trophy after progressing to the FA Cup semi-final. They also have an outside chance to return to the fight for the Champions League places.
Still, friction may appear behind the scenes as Ten Hag has insisted that he must have some control over recruitment. Man United, meanwhile, are building a new structure which may include a new head of recruitment reporting to incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth.
If Ten Hag is dismissed, Southgate may be among the frontrunners, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been impressed with his work with England. Southgate also has an existing relationship with Ashworth.
