Man United 'receive assurances' from UEFA about European ban threat amid multi-club ownership issue

Some Man United fans were tensed that the club might be banned from UEFA competitions next season after Sir Jim Ratcliffe became the co-owner.

That is because Ratcliffe’s Ineos also owns Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, who are in line to qualify for UEFA competitions next season.

However, as per the Daily Mail, the Red Devils’ hierarchy has now received assurances from UEFA that will not be a problem.

Despite Ineos’ multi-club ownership situation, Man United will be allowed to play in the UEFA Europa League even if Nice qualify for the same competition, under certain conditions.

If this does happen, then Man United will have until 3rd June to prove t hat they do not have any joint-administrative relations with Nice and are not connected to them.

With that being said, the Red Devils are currently focused on securing UEFA Champions League qualification for next season.

That can even be achieved with a fifth-place finish, even though Erik ten Hag’s side is currently six points behind Tottenham Hotspur.
