Two ways Man United can line up with Ivan Toney as transfer links re-emerge

Man United are again being linked to Brentford forward Ivan Toney after his return to football from the January period.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are considering the Englishman as one of the possible options to sign in the summer window.

While Man United have not made a final decision, they are interested in Toney and are eager to sign a new forward to support Rasmus Hojlund.

With Anthony Martial likely leaving this summer, there is a need for another quality forward to add more goal-scoring options to the squad.

Having said that, here we look at two ways the Man United side can potentially line up with Toney next season.

Option 1: Leads the line

Toney operates ideally as a lone centre-forward and can play that in the absence of Hojlund or if the Danish forward needs some resting. He is quite impressive with his link-up play, physicality and off-the-ball movement, having scored four goals in 10 appearances so far.

He already knows how to play with Marcus Rashford, his England teammate, and can also work nicely with Alejandro Garnacho or any other right-winger signed in the summer.

Option 2: Forward duo with Hojlund?

With that being said, Toney knows how to play in a two-man forward line as he has done quite often at Brentford. If need be, he can actually play alongside Hojlund up-front and perhaps just stray a bit deeper than the younger striker.

This can definitely help enhance Man United’s goal-scoring potential and help add more figures inside the box to capitalize when crosses or penetrative passes make their way.
