Why Marcus Rashford was benched for England against Belgium — explained

Marcus Rashford did not start for England in the 2-2 draw with Belgium on Tuesday.

The Manchester United striker did not get any action and ended the game as an unused substitute.

Rashford's non-selection was because of an injury scare owing to a knock he picked up against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, reports The Times' Henry Winter.

The knock is reportedly not very serious as he didn't return to Manchester unlike Harry Maguire, who is back after an injury in training.

Rashford appears to have been given a well-deserved rest ahead of Man United's clash with Brentford in the Premier League.

Since the Forest game, the Englishman has started three games for the Red Devils, scoring in all of them.
