To cause insult to injury, Man United’s own injuries only kept mounting after the chaotic game as even more players picked up knocks.
Raphael Varane had to be taken off at half-time after suffering an injury in the first half. Then Victor Lindelof got injured in the second half, forcing him to be replaced with Lisandro Martinez.
Before this match, it had been claimed that Man United had suffered 51 cases or injuries or illness in the 2023/24 season. That has now increased to 53 with these two latest issues.
The Red Devils had reshaped their medical team earlier this season by appointing a new club doctor from Arsenal, but that does not seem to have worked at all.
