Ethan Wheatley wins 23/24 Man United Young Player of the Season award, why next season could be special

Man United have confirmed young forward Ethan Wheatley as the winner of the 2023/24 Young Player of the Season award winner.

The 18-year-old had an excellent season in which he was also able to make his breakthrough for the senior team.

Wheatley became Man United's 250th youth academy player to play at the senior level. He has made three appearances as a substitute this season.

He has really stood out with the youth teams. Wheatley has scored 14 goals and provided four goals in 30 matches across all competitions this season.

That includes eight goals in seven appearances for Man United's under-18 side to guide them to the U-18 Premier League title, scoring a goal in the final against Chelsea.

The 2024/25 season can be particularly special for Wheatley. That is because the past winners of this award, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, became key players for the Red Devils' senior team in the campaign after winning this coveted award.
