Who can forget Ten Hag delivering a trophy in his very first season despite inheriting a dysfunctional squad?
Man United beat Newcastle United 2-0 in the final, ending a six-year wait for silverware in style.
Make no mistake; Ten Hag had his fair share of controversies in the first season as well mostly due to the Cristiano Ronaldo saga. However, the Dutchman still dealt with it like a pro and came out victorious.
Man United also finished third in the Premier League last season, nine points behind second-placed Arsenal.
Incredible debut season
That brings us to the next point - Ten Hag had a remarkable start at Old Trafford despite being his first-ever stint in the Premier League.
The mark of any good manager is surviving the brutal English top flight and Ten Hag certainly came out on top.
Man United conceded just 43 goals in 38 league games last season - the same as Arsenal. They fell short in scoring goals even though Marcus Rashford delivered his best numbers with 30 goals across competitions.
Ten Hag was touted for bigger and better things but, unfortunately, he fell short this term due to reasons beyond his control.

On Saturday, Man United will play their third cup final in two years under Ten Hag.
The stakes for this game are quite high as a win would ensure he goes out on a positive note. However, beating Man City won't be easy.

Winning the League Cup was great but what followed later was equally delightful.
Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Ten Hag broke out in a silly dance before lifting the trophy. A tradition of theirs from Ajax, the trio looked elated to win the trophy.
Pundits criticised Ten Hag for showing so much happiness for winning the League Cup but who cares? Fans loved it.

The Ronaldo saga did not end well but that set Ten Hag apart - he was unafraid to call out the big names and take harsh calls for the betterment of the squad.
Ten Hag began benching Ronaldo following a decline in his form and also his reluctance to adhere to the boss' tactics.
Be it Jadon Sancho, Ronaldo or even Rashford, whose partying ways have been scrutinised this term, Ten Hag has meted out proper punishment for indiscipline or ill-attitude.
Man United desperately need a manager like him to quell the rising player power. With Ten Hag set to leave though, it looks like player power has won once again.
