According to Sky Sports, Manchester United and Erik ten Hag are in the final stages of negotiations regarding his new contract.
Unfortunately, that final stage has dragged on for weeks now.
Although there is a general agreement that Ten Hag will stay on, there are certain issues that need to be discussed.
For example, the boss will be expected to relinquish his veto rights on new signings; he will have to seek the opinions of the incoming sporting director on everything.
Another possible issue of contention could be the changes to Ten Hag's coaching staff. The club do not wish to finalise any appointments till they can officially confirm the Dutchman's new contract.
Sky Sports understands talks have not broken down yet and are positive, for the most part. That said, Man United need to hurry up and hand Erik the new contract to simply put this saga behind them.
