Odegaard's masterclass vs Atletico helps Madrid gain ground in the title race

What a matchday for Los Blancos so far!

After a roller-coaster game and a win against Levante, Madridistas were treated with a masterclass of a performance by loanee Martin Odegaard, who helped Real Sociedad to inflict the first season defeat on our city rivals, Atletico.

Moreover, Odegaard has scored a winner against Atleti, opening the score in the 58th minute. With Nacho Monreal scoring just three minutes later, La Real has cruised to victory. 

Apart from his winning strike, Martin:

• has managed 3 shots on goal;
• created 3 chances for his teammates (best on the pitch)
• played 3 key passes (also best);
• made 4 accurate crosses (best);
• completed 3 take-ons (best).

With the passing accuracy 84% against hard Atleti's press and 9(!) recoveries this is some very mature and impressive performance from the 20-year-old.

Atletico's loss means that Los Blancos are now mere one point behind their city rivals in the table: Real's 8 points vs Rojiblancos' 9. Fingers crossed for Valencia's win against Barcelona now, to make it a perfect weekend!
