Carvajal: 'We need to show balls but must also keep cool heads'

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal faces the press alongside his coach, Santiago Solari, ahead of Tuesday's crucial Champions League duel against Roma. Carvajal addresses various burning issues, as well as Los Blancos' defensive woes, La Liga struggles and his own comments in regards to Madrid's former coach, Julen Lopetegui. That's what he has to say, as quoted by Marca:

Roma match

"We have a difficult match ahead of us, it's another battle. We want to be top of the group and it's time to demonstrate it. We need to show balls, as the coach says, but must also keep cool heads and know how to manage matches."

La Liga struggles

"I'd be lying if I said that we know what is going on. It's not easy to play for Real Madrid, as all the other teams mark the match against us on their calendar. We need to be ready every three days. We'll fight [for the league title] as we're a few points behind top spot and we still have a lot to say. Football nowadays is much more even and if you don't give your best then any team can beat you. Now it's time to speak less and to do a lot. It's time to take action."

Does he really believe Lopetegui to be the best coach he has ever had?

"These declarations weren't about defending one or the other, it was a personal opinion. Being successful doesn't go with being better or worse. Lopetegui isn't with us anymore because of results, because if results don't accompany you then it's hard to stay as coach of Real Madrid. Solari has been here for just a little while, but I think he'll do great things."
