- Los Blancos are without a goal in four consecutive matches in all competitions
- However, their former coach insists no striker is needed in January
- He also finds the team lacking a leader figure after Cristiano's departure
Real Madrid former coach Bernd Schuster discusses his club's recent struggles as Los Blancos are without a goal in the last four matches straight in all competitions. Moreover, they endured two narrow defeats against two rather modest opponents: Russian side CSKA Moscow in the Champions League and La Liga minnows Alaves.
Nevertheless, the ex-manager believes the club shouldn't sign a star striker in winter as he wouldn't be able to get used to the needed rhythm in such a small period of adaptation.
Diario AS quote Schuster as saying: 'I wouldn't sign anyone in the winter market because if what you want is to bring in a star or someone who improves what you have, I think that if a club allows a player to leave like that it'll be because he's not right. Arriving in January without having good rhythm is very difficult. They won't easily let a striker leave if he has 20 goals with his team.'
Schuster also thinks Madrid are lacking a leader figure following Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus: 'What happens is that Ronaldo didn't only guarantee you goals, but the opponents unconsciously change the way they play. Sometimes, a leader is missing. Madrid didn't have one in Moscow [a 1-0 Champions League defeat to CSKA] and it was too noticeable.'
