Achraf Hakimi and 3 Bundesliga stars avoid punishment from German FA for George Floyd tributes

Achraf Hakimi, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Thuram and Weston McKennie have all avoided punishment from the German FA for paying tributes to George Floyd during the last Bundesliga gameweek.

"The DFB Control Committee will not initiate proceedings against Hakimi, Sancho, McKennie & Thuram," the governing body's official statement released on Wednesday reads.

"The committee also intends to maintain this line in new anti-racism campaigns to mark the death of George Floyd on the coming match days."

Both Sancho and Hakimi celebrated their goals in Borussia Dortmund's 6-1 win over Paderborn last weekend by revealing t-shirts with the message "Justice for George Floyd".

Thuram, in turn, kneeled to the ground paying tribute to the late Floyd in Gladbach's victory over Union Berlin on Sunday. The day before, McKennie wore an armband saying "Justice for George" in Schalke's 1-0 loss to Werder Bremen.

The German FA have been investigating the players' messages over the past few days and they clearly made the right decision considering all the mass protests in the US after Floyd's death at the hands of a police officer in Minnesota last week.
