Dermot Corrigan, referring to Diario AS journalist Oscar Garcia, has shared the following thing on financial implications for Real Madrid related to Zinedine Zidane's departures from the club.
"Zidane has now left Madrid three times - each time with at least a year left on his contract, and without negotiating a pay-off. It's cost him €42m in foregone salary calculates @oscargarciadiaz. Which is pretty unusual, methinks."
The first time he left the club with one year left on his contract in 2006 when he retired as a player. If he had seen out his deal he would have pocketed an additional €6m.
In 2018, he stepped down with 2 years left on his contract, renouncing €24m that he would have earned if he had stayed until the end of his deal.
The Frenchman waived €12m in the latest departure, which he would have earned if he had remained at Real Madrid.
The club have released an official statement on the Frenchman saying he's stepped down today.
There are four candidates who could succeed Zizou at the helm of Real Madrid.
