1. Crucial block on Vega
Alcoyano should have been 1-0 or 2-0 up in the opening fifteen minutes of the game. But Militao, along with Camavinga and Lunin, did really well to prevent that from happening.
Eder's arguably best defensive moment of the game came in the 9th minute. Marcelo and Alaba were caught sleeping on the left-hand side and only a last-ditch intervention from Militao saved Madrid from going behind.
2. Madrid's opening goal
Militao rose highest in the box, connecting to Rodrygo's corner and putting the ball into the net in the 39th minute.
The centre-back put Madrid in control of the tie, demonstrating his ability to score important goals.
3. Vini-esque dribbling
Madrid found creating chances extremely difficult, prompting Militao to take matters into his own hands.
In the 50th minute, he drove forward with the ball, gliding past two Alcoyano players and nutmegging one of them in the process.
Escudero had to trip Militao to stop him, causing a dangerous free-kick.
4. Pass that led to Asensio's goal
Marco Asensio's goal in the 78th minute saved Madrid's blushes. Asensio scored after a nice combination involving Hazard and Rodrygo but guess who started the attack?
Of course, Militao. He stopped Alcoyano's advance into Madrid's third and played a quick and accurate long ball to Rodrygo. The Brazilian then fed Hazard, he set up Asensio who put the ball into the net off the deflection.
