Sevilla president shares update on Real Madrid links to 'Courtois replacement'

Sevilla president Pepe Castro has come out to pour cold water on rumours linking their goalkeeper Yassine Bounou to Real Madrid as Thibaut Courtois' replacement.

"There’s nothing so far, no talks for Bono,” Castro said.

“The reality is that we have no offers or knowledge of any team's interest in Bono,” the Sevilla boss added.

On Friday, Bono played for Sevilla in their 2-1 defeat to Valencia in the first games of La Liga 2023/24.

On Friday, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Andriy Lunin will get his chance following Courtois ACL injury.

However, the Madrid gaffer confirmed that Real Madrid will be looking for options in the market following the big injury blow to their first-choice goalie.

Real Madrid face 'stumbling block' in Bono pursuit - it has to do with his nationality

Yassine Bono has been picked as a top target to replace Thibaut Courtois in Real Madrid's goal after Belgian stopper suffered an ACL injury.

Sevilla's asking price for the Moroccan goalkeeper stands at €20m, but it's not the main stumbling block for Los Blancos.

Bono is expected to receive an international call-up to represent his country in the Africa Cup of Nations from mid-January to mid-February, which could see him miss out on 13 club games.

It seems like the only solution would be to prevent the goalkeeper from leaving for the tournament, but that decision might not sit well with Bono.

Maybe we should trust in Lunin after all?
