Kepa Arrizabalaga will return to Chelsea at the end of the season, The decision has been rubberstamped by Real Madrid, Fabrizio Romano says.
Kepa had a chance to cement his Real Madrid future after being brought in to replace the injured Thibaut Courtois in the summer, but he lost his way in January following a series of calamitous errors.
Meanwhile, Andriy Lunin took his chance with both hands and proved to Ancelotti why he need not look any further.
Thus, Lunin was installed as the first choice and Kepa was relegated permanently to the bench.
Real Madrid now plan with Lunin for the future while they await the recovery of Courtois next season. Romano says the plan is to hand Lunin a new contract in the coming weeks.
Real Madrid paid €1m to sign Kepa from Chelsea on a one-year loan deal. The transfer came without any obligations, but the goalie said it was his dream to continue at Real Madrid for many years. Sadly for him, that will not happen.
