Lunin 10, Bellingham 6: Real Madrid player ratings in Man City game

Real Madrid have defeated Man City on penalties after drawing the game (1-1) and the tie (4-4). Here is how we rated the players. Note that we've taken into account the players' performance over 120 minutes but not the penalties.

Lunin: 10/10. The Ukrainian put in a perfect performance today, making countless incredible saves. He really made the difference today and kept Madrid in the game despite an honestly abysmal performance. The save on Grealish early in the second half is the one that particularly stands out.

Rodrygo: 7.5. Right place, right time to score the opener. The true king of the Champions League, with 20 goals and 11 assists in 49 appearances in the competition. Wasn't too active after scoring though but helped at the back.

Carvajal: 7.5. Participated in the opener with a great pass and was overall decent defensively against Grealish. Doku coming on made things even more difficult for the Spaniard but he held his line and did everything he could. Got to say that Dani gave his all today.

Rudiger: 7.5. Excellent block shortly after the opener and then in the 36th minute. Kept Haaland in check. Yet it was his mistake that directly led to City's leveller. Had a chance to score in the first half of extra time but unfortunately missed.

Valverde: 6.5. Incredible work rate. Ran his socks off. Yet lacked precision and creativity going forward.

Nacho: 6.5. Solid overall, though almost scored an own goal while trying to clear the ball away shortly after the interval. Was vocal when organising his teammates at the back.

Kroos: 6. Great passing sometimes to break Man City's lines. However, made a mistake that almost led to a goal in added time to the first half.

Mendy: 6. Very solid at the back, no attacking output though.

Camavinga: 6. Spared Kroos' blushes late in the first half with incredible recovery pace. Impressive in one-on-one duels, quite sloppy in possession though.

Bellingham: 6. Ridiculously good ball control on a few occasions, played a key role in Rodrygo's goal. However, should have been more involved overall. A disappointing performance.

Brahim: 5. Was supposed to inject some energy into the lethargic Madrid side after coming on but didn't really do anything of note.

Modric: 5. Failed to leave his mark on the game. The teammates just didn't really deliver the ball to him.

Vinicius: 5. The Vini as a no. 9 experiment didn't work out today. He was barely involved, though he did contribute to Rodrygo's goal. Was second-best to Kyle Walker today if we're being honest.

Others: Vazquez, Militao N/A
