In a leaked WhatsApp chat between UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and their then-vice-president Luis Rubiales dated 2019, the former called Real Madrid president Florentino Perez an 'idiot' and a 'racist'.
Of course that had to do with Florentino's plan for launching the European Super League.
Here is the alleged talk.
💭 Rubiales: "I will talk to Florentino, because here in Spain if I have Tebas [the La Liga president] and Florentino against me, it will be impossible for me. Let's think what the best solution is (...) I think we can try to talk to him and calm everything down, but I will be with you, 100 per cent. Don't worry about that. ALWAYS."
💭 Ceferin: "I don't want to speak to him. I would only do it for you. Don't calm things down for me, I don't need it. What I want is for you to be strong."
Real Madrid and Barcelona keep the European Super League idea alive despite UEFA's resentment. The first effort to launch the project failed as the founding clubs were forced to come up with a new format; it can be finally established now following the beneficial decision made by the European Court of Justice.
The Super League is expected to be way more beneficial financially than the existing UEFA tournaments. It could be launched in the coming years.
