When he failed to make the final cut for Croatia’s 2022 World Cup squad, the then-Dinamo Zagreb player said he agreed completely with the manager’s decision. “I haven’t been on a required level this season,” Luka Ivanusec said. “If I’m good enough again, I’m sure I’ll deserve my place in the future. I’m still young and will work even harder.” And so he did: after impressing the following season at Dinamo, he moved to Feyenoord and continued his good form, while playing an increasingly important role for Croatia as well. Adept at playing in central midfield or on either wing, the skillful 25-year-old could be the Vatreni’s ‘secret’ weapon at the Euros.
