Freddie Ljungberg breaks silence after replacing Unai Emery

Arsenal have officially announced that they have parted ways with Unai Emery. Freddie Ljungberg has taken over at the club as an interim manager. The iconic winger has briefly reacted to the news via social media.

"However long I oversee Arsenal for, I will give everything I have to put smiles on faces again," the Swede tweeted. "We have a busy few weeks ahead and the team needs your support. Let’s get to work!"

Ljungberg will have a hell of a job to do as Arsenal have hit a new low after Thursday's defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt at the Emirates on the Europa League Matchday 5. The Gunners have not won any of their last 7 games across all competitions, losing 3 of them and drawing the other 4.

Furthermore, Arsenal have been eliminated from the Carabao Cup and they are just joint-sixth in the Premier League standings, 19 points behind leaders Liverpool and 8 behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

In the Europa League, Arsenal remain on top of Group F with 10 points. Frankfurt are second with 9. The Gunners have one group stage game left - a fixture against Standard Liege in Belgium on 12 December.
