The Athletic: Guendouzi has not trained with Arsenal first-team since Brighton incident

Matteo Guendouzi has not featured in Arsenal's first-team training for two weeks, reports The Athletic, normally a very reliable source with confirmed insiders within the club.

Mikel Arteta has requested the French U21 international to work with a fitness coach as he has no intention to bring him back to the senior squad at the moment.

The 38-year-old is irritated with the midfielder's attitude. Matteo grabbed Neal Maupay's throat after the defeat to Brighton and apparently said a few really ugly things to his compatriot and his teammates.

Guendouzi met Arteta and director Edu Gaspar after the incident but the Spaniard was left unimpressed with the 21-year-old's lack of desire to change his attitude.

The boss and some other members of his coaching team have given up on trying to discipline the ex-Lorient man, as his Brighton antics are not a stand-alone incident.

Arteta earlier said he's ready to welcome everyone if they accept a set of rules. However, his relationship with Guendouzi has been damaged beyond repair and another meeting with his agents is planned in order to offload him when the transfer window opens.

With Atletico Madrid supposedly interested in the talented midfielder, a straight swap with Thomas Partey has been suggested, with Tribuna.com's Arsenal fans divided on the idea.
