Torino reportedly ready to make more lucrative offer than Fiorentina to land Lucas Torreira

According to journalist Alvaro Levrero, who works for Spanish newspaper El Pais (not a 100% reliable source), Torino are set to offer Arsenal £21.7m for Lucas Torreira.

Levrero says their bid will match Fiorentina's proposal but the difference is that they are ready to pay the full amount outright, while their competitors only offer around a £7m loan fee with an obligation to buy in a year.

Levrero says the hierarchy of the Turin-based club are well-aware that Arsenal in a pressing need of money to land Thomas Partey and hope it would be enough to convince the Gunners.

However, according to various reports, Arsenal's valuation stands closer to £27m. So, it remains to be seen if the board would agree to sell the Uruguayan below their asking price.

Earlier, Torino president Urbano Cairo confirmed their interest in Torreira but added that the 24-year-old is not the only midfielder they're considering.

After a brilliant maiden season with Arsenal, his impact on the team in the following campaign reduced drastically.

In the post-lockdown period, Torreira was given just 159 minutes of football. His agent admitted that Lucas would prefer to move on if the midfielder is not seen as a first-choice option.

The Uruguayan joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in 2018 for around £26m.
