Mirror: Gabriel could recover in time for pre-season friendlies

Gabriel has withdrawn from the Brazil Olympics squad with a knee injury, it was officially confirmed on Wednesday.

The scans have revealed 'joint swelling and tendonitis' in the centre-back's leg, forcing him to sit out the summer's tournament in Japan.

The injury could prove to be good news for Arsenal because the 23-year-old, who established himself as a key player last season, is not expected to be out for long.

According to the Mirror, Gabriel is set to return to full fitness before the 2021/22 campaign gets underway and the Brazilian could even take part in some of the Gunners' pre-season friendlies.
