The Brazilian was Arsenal’s gladiator in the war against the archrivals. He silenced Aubameyang with some brilliant defensive work, marking him out of the game. But Gabriel’s best contribution came in the second half, when he smartly guided a cross into the back of the net. He was rock-solid defensively, making 7 possession recoveries –making 4 clearances and 2 interceptions.
In his return for Arsenal, Zinchenko kept Raheem Sterling in his pocket. The left-back didn’t let Tomiyasu’s presence be missed at all, being a highly proactive figure. He won 5/6 duels, made 2 tackles and 6 possession recoveries. Moved the ball forward smartly.
William Saliba – 7.5
The young Frenchman also played a role in making Aubameyang have a horrible day at Stamford Bridge. He read Chelsea’s attacks smartly and was in the right places to ruin them. He made 13 possession recoveries, as well as making 3 tackles and winning 2/3 ground duels.
Thomas Partey – 7.5
Arsenal’s midfield general with another superb showing in a big game. Partey was an ever-present figure in the middle, making 13 ball recoveries and winning 5/6 duels. He moved the ball forward smoothly, pressed the Chelsea midfielders well and closed down spaces for them – rending their threat ineffective.
Gabriel Jesus – 6.5
Jesus was involved in a lot of memorable moments in the game. His finishing was off, as he scuffed a possible diving header in the first half and a few more half-chances. But his brilliant hold-up play and distribution helped create some big chances which should’ve fetched him an assist.
Martin Odegaard – 4
The Arsenal captain had a game to forget. He couldn’t really dictate the attacking moves or create anything really major for his side. Odegaard also missed a huge scoring chance in the second half, scuffing a shot over after some great work from Jesus.
