✍️A brief summary of the first half

An underwhelming first-half display by the Gunners. Everton's intent was clear from the kick-off; press and frustrate Arsenal.

The hosts showed more purpose, commitment and energy. Although the Gunners dominated the possession, Everton had more goalscoring chances.

Mikel Arteta will be expected to make some changes in the second half to keep up with Everton's intensity.

🚩Half-Time

⏰40' - The Gunners are still struggling with just one attempt. Everton, meanwhile, have shown more energy, purpose and commitment.

💬FK: "Ben White doesn’t look right. Something’s up. Would be tempted to consider Tomiyasu at half-time. Again."

💬Sash: "Shocking performance. Really bad. Flashbacks of last season."

35' - Opportunities pouring in for Everton. They have don everything right bar put the ball in the back of the net.

30' - Everton are frustrating the Gunners with their marking and intensity. They have five attempts already. Nketiah with our best chance. Blazed wide.

💬Alex: "We're a bit sluggish, but the real problem is that Everton are up for it".

💬Ted Knutson: "Really good far-post deliveries from Everton there. That header from Saliba on Onana was excellent defending. Also gives them a chance to switch up to near posts as well. Thankfully Arsenal have been pretty good at defending corners for a couple of years now."

22' - Arsenal struggling with Everton's press and physicality. Everton with four successive corners.

💬Neilby70: "Keep going Arsenal Patience will eventually break them".

15'- Everton with the opportunity of the game but the Gunners have had two afterwards in quick succession through Partey and Zinchenko.

7' - We have started very strongly with high intensity and purpose. Everton sitting back, hoping to counter attack.

We're underway...

💬Mikel Arteta: “Every game in this league is extremely difficult. At Southampton we weren’t at our best although we had chances to win & we didn’t take them. Everton are going to ask different questions of us to Man Utd for example, but they will be difficult questions to answer.

“After, from the bottom of my heart, I wish them all the very best, but we are looking to get something at Everton this time. Especially because of the years I had there, the love I feel towards the club. I hope they can turn this around in the best possible way.”

📣"5 - Arsenal have named the same starting XI in five consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since April-May 2015 (six games). Formula." - Opta
