Arsenal are now advancing in their talks with Southampton to sign midfielder Romeo Lavia, confirms Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners are holding discussions with both the players' agents and the Championship side.
They are yet to make an official bid for Lavia, as they try to discover how much it’ll take to sign him.
However, Southampton are going to demand a ‘record fee’ for an U-21 player to let go of their prized midfielder.
Right now, the record fee for the transfer of a U-21 star in England is £35m – which Man United paid to sign Luke Shaw in 2014.
So it seems that the Saints are asking for over that figure to sign Lavia, which means they won’t entertain any discounted bids.
Man United are also interested in signing the young midfielder, with Chelsea also keeping an eye on the situation.
