Arsenal are interested in signing Santos’ young striker Marcos Leonardo in 2024, claims the Evening Standard.
However, the Gunners are going to face competition from the likes of Man United, Newcastle United and AS Roma – who are all interested in signing him.
Leonardo scored 17 goals in the Brazilian top division for Santos in the 2023 campaign and is ready for a move to Europe in January.
His agent, Rafael Pimenta, confirmed the same and said: “Already in the previous transfer market he had the possibility of being sold, but Santos’ sporting situation was very particular.
“He agreed to stay because he wanted to help out until the end of the championship. He didn’t want to leave because it wasn’t the right thing to do. But the time has come to move. He wants to have a European experience and his time will come this winter.”
With that being said, Arsenal are reportedly going to prioritize the signing of a new midfielder in the January window and are likely to pursue any possible move for Leanardo only after fulfilling those requirements.
