Arteta had 'phone calls' with ONE coach before signing Havertz - not Tuchel or Pep

Mikel Arteta reportedly spoke to Kai Havertz's former coach at Bayer Leverkusen before signing the German international in the summer. 

Havertz joined Arsenal in the summer for around £60 million amid criticism from many faithful. However, the attacker has come good with four goals in his last four league matches.

Arteta was said to have contacted Tayfun Korkut over Havertz's mentality and qualities. It was gathered that the Arsenal boss had several telephone chats with Korkut during the summer about his thoughts on Havertz, and where he would fit into the Arsenal side.

After the talks, the report said Arteta wanted Havertz so badly because he could sense how low on confidence the player was at Chelsea and knew he could improve him.
